Who We Are
Eric Phelps:
Eric Phelps received his Bachelors of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of
Music, Masters of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and
Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes College of Music. His primary
teachers were Richard Rognstad, Peter Rejto, Judith Glyde, and Timothy Eddy.
Eric has participated in music festivals in North America and Europe,
including master classes with Lynn Harrell, Janos Starker, and Yo-Yo Ma.
Eric served as Associate Principal cellist for the West Shore Symphony in
Muskegon, and substitutes in the Grand Rapids Symphony. He plays a 1995
Stanley Kiernoziak cello made in the shop of William Harris Lee in Chicago.
Crista Phelps:
Crista Phelps received her Bachelors of Arts in Music from Grand Valley
State University in Allendale, MI, where she studied clarinet, composition,
and piano. Crista composes and arranges sacred pieces for any variety or
combination of instruments, as well as plays the piano for church or
special events.
Crista and Eric met in 2001, and were married in July of 2003. They and their two children are members of First Protestant Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, MI.
